MSN Web Messenger to retire

Joining Windows Live OneCare, Microsoft Money, and Encarta, MSN Web Messenger is slated to retire on June 30, 2009.  Its replacement, Windows Live Web Messenger, accessible through Hotmail, has been available for a couple of months now, and after June 30 will be the only way to access Messenger through the web.

According to the Windows Live Hotmail team blog:

With new web-based instant messaging (IM) now available from Windows Live Hotmail worldwide, we are preparing to retire MSN Web Messenger. The old MSN Web Messenger experience will end on June 30, 2009

I kind of liked msn web messenger :(

it is way easier to use than windows live web messenger IMO :\ , at least for me, as I don't have a hotmail account (I use my yahoo mail address to sign in to the windows live id service), so having to sign in to windows live people and having to stick to that website in order for me to receive IMs, it's really not that comfortable.

Why are Microsoft's product names always so friggin long?!? Seriously, they should just create a "Bing Messenger" (not Windows Bing Live Messenger) and scrap all of this other stuff.

ah Bing Messenger - I remember the http://www.bing.im/ 'patent' issue ( liveside.net/.../some-more-on-bing-com-that-confusing-trademark-will-soon-become-blinko.aspx )

as of 4am BST June 29th bing.im still have there site up with returning by end of 2009 promising a 'better version of bing' and  promoting peoplesound for the meantime. They also no longer moving as they removed 'we changing name soon to blinko' references)

bing.im would be an ideal site for Bing Messenger :)
