@gregsedwards: While it may seem like a lot of work, a lot of this code is actually made available to you as complete files. You just upload them to your server and include them in your website and you're almost done. The author of this article did not write them. Given that, you can probably integrate the toolkit in about 30 minutes or less, even if you are not a seasoned developer :-)

I am concerned about some of the features that windows live web messenger is missing or not working. I have noticed that you can't send a message to someone offline like messenger. You also can not do the nudge thing even thou the icon is there. It is faded out. Also what Dan and BV2312 mention...the fact that it seems to only be tied to the people list and mailbox. If I check my calendar, go to my profile page, or any other page that is within the Windows Live Program I am logged off. I have to relog back on our keep one window open while clicking on another tab in Internet Explorer to venture into other parts of the Windows Live Programs without being logged off. I guess we will have to wait to next year for that to be solved.

@BV2312: That's one thing I've been wondering too, instead of the one currently in Hotmail/People, this one would be so much better, accessible from all Windows Live properties, and will have a proper Contact List!! It also saves you from having the pop-up conversation windows too!

One thing i don't get is why not do this to Windows Live, so when to navigate from WL Hotmail to Home or Profile at least WL Web Messenger is still running and not signed out.. Rather than having WLW Messenger only on People/Hotmail

31 printed pages of source code and instructions, and you call that "easy?" The WL wonder bar is full of win and awesome, but it's not quite "plug and play." You'll need to be a pretty experienced webmaster and developer to get it up and running.
