New Bing ad: Oooooooh scary!

Looks like the avalanche of pre Christmas Windows and Bing ads are about upon us, as Microsoft unveiled the latest “Decision Engine” ad on their YouTube channel today:

Bing: the Vampire Engine, on YouTube

Apparently vampires prefer Portland, Oregon to our own prince of darkness lair in Forks, Wa (probably because there’s only like 2 restaurants in Forks, not much need for an engine for that decision).

So while Google is rolling out Music Search, Maps Navigation for Android, Similar Images, Contextual Search for Wikipedia, and more (all within the last 3 days), we get new ads.  Ooooooh scary, indeed.

Good stuff but Bing needs more to differentiate itself from the evil goog IMO. The market share is not increasing fast enough.  I wonder what the next wave will bring to Bing...

@webguy, i agree that differentiation is key but marketshare was never going to jump instantly.  Frankly, I think MS has to be fairly pleased with the progress thusfar.  I look forward to Bing - Wave 2.  But I want Live Wave 4 first...like yesterday!

I don't understand why they are being so secretive, I thought Live Wave 3 was well received and they would want to duplicate that by being more public about it.

Any chance that Windows Live is being transitioned to Windows Azure? If so, that might explain the lack of news. Since Azure is expected to go gold at PDC, perhaps they will announce that Live is now built on Azure and use that as a marketing pitch to promote their faith in Azure's abilities.
